Pathways
Programs
Federal Skilled Worker Program
A federal permanent-residence pathway for skilled workers with foreign work experience. Candidates must satisfy the Federal Skilled Worker minimum requirements and score at least 67 out of 100 selection-factor points before competing for an invitation through Express Entry.
Canadian Experience Class
A federal permanent-residence pathway for skilled workers who have at least one year of authorized skilled work experience in Canada (TEER 0–3), meet language minimums, and plan to live outside Quebec. Candidates compete for invitations through Express Entry.
Study permit
Canada's principal temporary study authorization for international students enrolled at designated learning institutions. It can form part of a longer study-to-work-to-PR path when the program and later PGWP or Express Entry rules are met, but the study permit itself is not permanent residence.
Post-graduation work permit
A temporary open work permit that lets eligible international graduates work in Canada after completing a qualifying program at a PGWP-eligible designated learning institution. Canadian work experience gained on a PGWP is commonly used later for permanent residence routes such as the Canadian Experience Class, but the PGWP itself is not permanent residence.
