A Japan work residence status for technical, humanities, and certain foreign-culture-based activities performed under a contract with a public or private institution in Japan.
Student status of residence
Japan's main study residence status for school-based learning. Applicants usually obtain a Certificate of Eligibility through the school, then a visa at a Japanese mission, and receive a residence card after entry when staying more than three months.
Designated Activities (Digital Nomad)
A temporary Japan route for nationals of eligible visa-exempt tax-treaty countries who earn at least 10 million yen a year and hold private medical travel insurance covering death, injury and illness (medical treatment coverage of 10 million yen or more). Work must be remote international work for a foreign employer or overseas clients using ICT; local Japanese employment is not the model.
