Long-stay study authorisation

A temporary study-stay route for higher education, post-compulsory secondary education, student mobility, volunteering, and specified training activities lasting more than 90 days.

Status note. Spain distinguishes study stays exceeding 90 days from shorter study stays. The Ministry of Inclusion and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs publish the study-stay and visa requirements.

Processing time

ContextThe retained sources do not establish a universal processing time. For study stays longer than six months, the consular page states that the visa is valid for one year and the student must apply for a Foreigner Identity Card within one month of entry.
